Roman Ramos claimed ESBK Spanish Superbike Championship pole position for the series’ second visit of the summer to Circuito de Navarra this morning (Saturday).
This is a positive result for Ramos who arrives at the venue in northern Spain third in the standings but with no victories to his name. Ramos managed to defeat the leading duo in the championship however, with standings leader Steven Odendaal only managing to set a time three and a half tenths of a second off.
Odendaal did manage to outpace his nearest title contender, Ivo Lopes, however. Lopes slotted into third just over four tenths behind the outright pace but will head into the two races confident after winning twice at Circuito de Navarra in July.
Behind the leading SBK trio was the leading STK1000 machine of Francisco J Palomera and Team Honda Laglisse. Christophe Ponsson was fifth ahead of Mauro Gonzalez and Ville Vatonen.
Juan Pablo Uriostegui. Paco Morales and Samuel Diaz completed the top-10.
