Kasper Schormans claimed victory in the second F4 Spanish Championship race of the weekend at Circuito de Navarra and extended his lead at the top of the drivers’ standings.
Schormans, who also won Race 1 on Saturday, led from MP Motorsport’s Rocco Coronel off the start and immediately built a small buffer. Behind them, there was plenty of tussling before an early safety car was deployed to help recover Ty Fisher’s car from the gravel after an incident involving Nathan Tye and Andrej Petrovic, the latter of whom was the only one able to continue.
Following a brief stint behind the safety car, a red flag was thrown. From the restart, Schormans maintained the lead once more, as Noah Monteiro, fighting to stay in the championship picture, scrapped with Niklas Schaufler for seventh.
Daniel Kelleher and Borys Lyzen went side-by-side with two minutes left on the clock, but held position, allowing the top three to break away. Starting the final lap, Schormans, Coronel and Kanthan were all separated by just eight tenths.
Despite the close proximity of the drivers, the majority would cross the line as they started the final circulation, as Schormans took his second victory in as many races at Circuito de Navarra.
Coronel followed him home in second, with Vivek Kanthan completing the podium in third. Kelleher was fourth for the second race in a row, with Lyzen in fifth and Elliot Kaczynski in sixth.
Schaufler pipped Monteiro to seventh, and Fausto Arnaudo was classified ninth ahead of KCL Motorsport’s Jensen Burnett in tenth.
