The ESBK Spanish Superbike Championship makes the second of its two visits to Circuito de Navarra this weekend (19/20 September). Tickets for this crucial, penultimate round of the national series at the venue in northern Spain are available to book by clicking here.
The weekend will feature a full programme of races running under the Real Federacion Motociclista Espanola (RFME) banner, but it’s the two races from the premier Superbike class which will headline the programme.
This year’s grid includes several high-profile frontrunners from the modern era of ESBK competition, including reigning champion Steven Odendaal. The South African’s title defence really kicked up a gear over the summer months, with a run of three straight wins across the events at Estoril and Motorland, and two second-place finishes at Valencia last weekend, propelling him to the head of the standings.
Odendaal had been a near-constant presence on the podium prior to that too, and he arrives at a circuit at which he’s won before knowing that he has another very strong shot at the title. But the New2 Project rider will face stern opposition, including from multiple race winner Javier Palomera with Team Honda Laglisse.
Another rider to watch out for in the premier class will be another former champion in Ivo Lopes, who competes for the BMW Easyrace Team, one of the leading competitors in ESBK during recent seasons. Like the others towards the top of the standings, Lopes has multiple race wins to his name in 2026, including Race 1 victory at Circuit Ricardo Tormo last weekend.
Others expected to feature in the top category include Mauro Gonzalez, Ville Valtonen and Anton Eremin. These contenders will take to the circuit for two 16-lap races, with the first on Saturday followed by a second on Sunday.
Given the event’s proximity to the end of the season, it’s also possible that some champions could be crowned at Circuito de Navarra. The full programme includes the PreTalent, ESBK Talent, Sportbike, Supersport, Supersport 300 and Yamaha R7 categories.
Sunday will also feature an additional opportunity for fans to get close to the action, with a free of charge spectator pit walk at 12:10.
