Circuito de Navarra’s events season launches with Round One of Bennetts BSB

12 April 2024

Circuito de Navarra’s 2024 motorsport season gets underway next weekend (20/21 April) when it hosts the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. It’s set to be a special occasion, as it’s the first race meeting at the circuit since the completion of the opening phase of an ongoing multi-million Euro redevelopment programme. It’s also Bennetts BSB’s first-ever competitive outing in Spain.

Earlier this year, Turn 6 at the circuit was heavily modified to create a faster, more flowing corner. Extensive resurfacing works have also take place at key points around the lap too, removing previously bumpy sections. Other enhancements include the installation of trackside EM light panels and a new CCTV system.

And it’s not only the circuit which is in fine health, as Bennetts BSB arrives on the continent with a world class field and plenty of interesting storylines to look out for. Foremost amongst those is reigning champion Tommy Bridewell’s switch to Honda Racing UK, and he’ll line up to race with the #1 plate for the first time at Circuito de Navarra.

Bridewell’s main challenger from 2023, Glenn Irwin, is back with Hager PBM Ducati, whilst another of last year’s main protagonists, Kyle Ryde, returns with OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing. Others to look out for will include returning favourite Rory Skinner, who has joined Cheshire Mouldings BMW Motorrad, whilst Jason O’Halloran will race on Kawasaki machinery for the first time. Veterans Leon Haslam, Josh Brookes and Peter Hickam will be in the mix too.

Two Bennetts BSB races will top the bill on Sunday, following practice and Omologato Superpole on Saturday. There will be a strong support race offering too, with the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship, R&G British Talent Cup and ABK Beer 0% BMW Motorrad F 900 R Cup all set to feature.

Beyond the main on-track show, fans in attendance will be treated to a range of other activities. This includes opportunities to engage with the riders throughout the weekend, starting with a pit lane meet and greet on Friday evening. This will be followed by appearances on the fan zone stage following on-track sessions during the weekend and a pit walk and autograph session on Sunday.

The fan zone stage will also play host to a headline DJ performance from Discodelia on Saturday evening. Further entertainment includes off-road 4x4 exhibitions and demonstrations, and on-track shows from renowned Ducati Stunt Rider Emilio Zamora.

Tickets for this landmark event at Circuito de Navarra are available until 12pm (UTC+1) on Thursday (18 April). Click here to book now.
