Planned resurfacing work during the first phase of Circuito de Navarra’s ongoing, multi-million Euro redevelopment and remodelling programme has been completed ahead of the venue’s return to use for track days this weekend (16/17 March).
Improvements to the track surface itself are now finished with new asphalt laid in two key areas, with re-levelling using the latest 3D road planing technology. This process has been used both to improve the previously bumpy section of track from the start/finish line to Turn 2 and the uneven sections at Turn 5, leading into the reprofiled Turn 6.
This work ensures that two of the more criticised sections of the existing track surface are now totally revitalised ahead of the first track days of the year in addition to the opening round of this year’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship on 20/21 April.
First phase works end over the coming days with the completion of work to runoff areas, barriers, and kerbs in addition to detail work including line painting.
The second phase of works will commence in mid-June, although circuit activity will continue until the third week of July, ahead of a scheduled completion by the end of August, during a traditionally quiet time of the year.
