Ivo Lopes secured his second victory of the ESBK Spanish Superbike weekend at Circuito de Navarra this afternoon (Sunday), further extending his lead at the top of the championship.
The Portuguese rider, who has two ESBK Spanish Superbike Championships to his name, started the second race of the weekend from pole after taking his first win of the 2025 season on Saturday.
However, the BMW Easyrace Team rider didn’t get the best start off the line, losing his lead to the fast-starting Steven Odendaal, who leaped ahead of Lopes as well as Saturday’s pole sitter Roman Ramos.
It didn’t take long before Lopes regained his lead with a hard-fought overtake on lap two to demote Odendaal to second. From there, Lopes set about controlling the pace out front, stretching ahead of the hard-fighting trio behind him of Odendaal, Ramos and Christophe Ponsson.
The battle for the remaining podium places raged on throughout the 17-lap contest, with Ponsson and Odendaal trading places several times after Ramos cleared the pair on lap eight, finishing second ahead of Ponsson in third and Odendaal in fourth.
Meanwhile, Lopes rode flawlessly up front to win by just over three seconds from Ramos followed by Ponsson and Odendaal, with Francisco J. Palomera a little further back to round out the top-five, thirty seconds back from Lopes.
Palomera’s teammate Juan Pablo Uriostegui was next in sixth, followed by Mauro Gonzalez in seventh overall.
