The NAPA Racing Weekend returns to the Circuito de Navarra for two full days of action this Saturday and Sunday (3/4 May). F4 Spain, the Spanish GT Championship, the Spanish Touring Car Championship and the Toyota GR Cup Spain will bring high-octane competition to the Navarrese public.
The Spanish F4 Championship returns to Navarra
After an exciting start to the season at Motorland Aragón, the Spanish F4 Championship returns to action this weekend at the Circuito de Navarra. Once again, a grid full of young talents will fight for victory in a championship that promises drama and high stakes.
In the overall standings, Belgian driver Thomas Strauven leads the championship with 45 points, closely followed by teammate Jan Przyrowski with 43 points, and René Lammers with 42. In the team standings, MP Motorsport is in first place with 54 points, ahead of Griffin Core by Campos Racing.
Located near Los Arcos, the Circuito de Navarra is a 3.9-kilometre technical track that features 15 corners that challenge both the skill of the drivers and the set-up of the cars. With a combination of high-speed straights and very demanding technical sectors, the track offers several key overtaking points, especially at Turn 1 and the heavy braking at Turn 13. Recently, the circuit has renovated its facilities and asphalt, which guarantees even more spectacle for this 2025 season.
The weekend's programme is action-packed, starting on Friday with three 40-minute test sessions that will allow teams and drivers to fine-tune their cars. Later, official free practice will start at 9:00, followed by the first qualifying session at 12:50, which will define the starting grid for Race 1, scheduled for 15:50.
On Sunday, track activity will start early with the second qualifying session at 9:00. Afterwards, two races are scheduled, with Race 2 getting underway at 12:10 and Race 3, which will close the weekend, at 14:45.
A weekend packed with story lines is expected, with the future stars of motorsport facing the demanding challenges of the Circuito de Navarra.
The GTs land in Navarra to contest their second round
The Spanish GT Championship faces its second round of the 2025 season this weekend at the Circuito de Navarra, after a promising start at MotorLand Aragón last March. On that occasion, the current champions Borja García and Alejandro Barambio took the victory in the first race, while Miguel Lobo and Carlos Vieira surprised with a victory in the second race. The Navarrese event is part of the NAPA Racing Weekend, courtesy of the RFEDA, which will also feature the season opener of the Spanish Touring Car Championship, now with shorter races and independent grids. The line-up is completed by the F4 Spain and the Toyota GR Cup.
In terms of sport, the GT Cup category is once again the busiest, with a grid dominated by the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup and leading drivers such as García-Barambio, Font-Vinyes, Lobo-Vieira or the Portuguese Piat-Marreiros. They are joined by teams such as Ral-Díaz Varela and Goros-Hebrard, as well as the return of the McLaren Artura GT4 of Schidlof-Gutiérrez, absent in Aragon due to technical problems. In the GPR class, the debut of the Alpine A110 Cup of Valdivieso and Rodríguez is a stand out entry, piloted by two drivers with experience in touring cars who now make the leap to GTs. Varela-Menkes' Ligier JS2R and Santos-Alvarez's powerful Howe Mustang will also compete, while Manuel Bertolin returns to action in the GT4 class with his BMW M4 GT4 EVO.
The weekend's programme will start on Friday afternoon with the official free practice session. On Saturday it will be the turn of qualifying, which will determine the grid for the first race of the day. On Sunday, the second race will be held at noon, preceded by a pit walk open to the public in which fans will be able to access the paddock, meet the drivers and get signed souvenirs. The two races can be followed live on the official YouTube channel of V-Line Org, and tickets are already available on the Circuit de Navarra website.
The CET kicks off in Navarra with a new format for 2025
The Spanish Touring Car Championship (CET) raises the curtain on the 2025 season this weekend at the Circuito de Navarra, debuting a completely renewed format that promises to take the excitement to a new level.
For the first time, the series will feature as part of the NAPA Racing Weekend, but it will do so with a separate grid from the GT, which will allow teams and drivers to compete in their races on equal terms. In addition, the new sporting regulations have introduced shorter races (28 minutes plus one lap), a measure designed to increase the pace on the track and offer closer competition.
Five different classes (SS1, SS2, SS3, SS4 and SS5) will come together this weekend to fight for the first points of the year. All of them have a combination of emerging talent and consolidated experience, as well as first-class mechanics that guarantee spectacle and variety in each outing on the track.
The CET programme in Navarra will take place over two days. On Saturday, two free practice sessions and qualifying will order the grids. On Sunday the decisive action will arrive with two races scheduled at 10:05 a.m. and 3:35 p.m., respectively.
Both races can be followed live on the official YouTube channel of V-Line Org, bringing the CET closer to all fans who do not want to miss the start of this new stage.
The GR Cup Spain celebrates its second round at the Circuito de Navarra
The GR Cup Spain will deliver its second round of the season at the Circuito de Navarra on May 2-4. It will be the first time that the GR86 will run on this circuit, which has been one of the novelties of the calendar in this second edition of the championship.
In addition, the GR Cup Spain incorporates a new competitor in Navarra: Shayur Harpal, a South African driver who will make his debut at the Navarrese track.
Another attraction of this event will be the presence of Alejandro Cachón. After achieving an excellent second place at Rally Islas Canarias in the WRC2 category, the reigning national rally champion returns to the wheel of the Toyota GR86 Circuit Pack. He already competed with this model last season at the Jarama Circuit, where he achieved a victory in one of the races. However, as this is his only participation in the championship, the driver will not score points or influence the overall standings.
The action will begin early on Friday with the celebration of the collective test and free practice.
On Saturday, 19 drivers will compete for the fastest lap in the first qualifying session of the weekend.
On Sunday the drivers will have another opportunity in the second qualifying practice, followed by the second race in which they will fight to obtain as many points as possible.
