Jan Przyrowski claimed victory in the first F4 Spanish Championship race of the weekend at Circuito de Navarra on Saturday following a post-race penalty for on the road winner Rene Lammers.
Lammers, son of former Grand Prix driver and Le Mans winner Jan Lammers, seized the lead at the start of the race, making a good start before claiming the inside line into the first corner. This allowed the MP Motorsport driver to slip into a lead he would ultimately hold on track until the end.
But it was far from simple with Strauven and Przyrowski hot on his heels just behind. The leading trio circulated close together in the laps that followed as a tight slipstreaming group formed before Przyrowski produced a sweeping move to take second from his Griffin Core teammate.
After that, the Polish Przyrowski set about hunting down Lammers in an attempt to take the lead. Several times he managed to get a good run behind the leader, but Lammers defended strongly. Przyrowski crossed the line second, but was awarded victory post-race after the stewards issued Lammers with a one-place drop for an infringement.
Strauven was mere tenths behind in third, with Reno Francot and Juan Cota fourth and fifth after crossing the line just behind the leaders. A little further back, Matus Ryba crossed the line sixth, just ahead of Nathan Tye who’d charged through from the sixth row of the grid to take seventh.
Noah Monteiro was the lead rookie in eighth, just ahead Hudson Schwartz and Christopher El Feghali.
