The Spanish Formula 4 Championship, the Spanish GT Championship, the Spanish Touring Car Championship, the Toyota GR Cup and the Spanish Clio Cup were responsible for giving colour to the second round of the NAPA Racing Weekend season. A total of eleven races spread over the weekend provided large grids at the Navarrese track. In addition, all the races were live streamed through YouTube.

Daniel Losada and Marco Aguilera win in Navarra in the GR Cup Spain

Circuito de Navarra hosted the second round of the GR Cup Spain season this weekend. The competition left vibrant moments and changes in the general classification, where Daniel Losada is positioned as the new leader after winning the first race. The other victory was shared by Marco Aguilera with Alejandro Cachón, the guest rider, in a heart-stopping finish in which the distance between one and the other was only +0.001s.

The activity began on Friday with free practice, held in heavy rain. On Saturday, with the asphalt dry, the drivers faced the first qualifying session, where Daniel Losada secured the pole position ahead of Beitske Visser and guest rider Alejandro Cachón.

Daniel Losada set the pace again, this time in the first race, in which he did not let go of the lead at any time. Behind, Beitske Visser and Alejandro Cachón starred in several exchanges of position. In the end it was Visser who took silver while José Antonio Gómez completed the podium, benefiting from Cachón's guest status, which does not block points or positions.

Sunday began with the second qualifying sessions in which Marco Aguilera set the best time in qualifying, followed by Losada and again by Cachón. Equality was once again the protagonist: fifteen drivers lapped in the same second.

The second race was even more exciting. Although Aguilera lost positions at the start, he managed to recover ground to get back into the fight. In the final laps, Losada relinquished the lead and was penalized five seconds for exceeding track limits, relegating him to seventh. A similar situation was experienced by Antonio Albacete, who fell from fourth to ninth place for the same reason. Cachón and Aguilera crossed the finish line practically at the same time, but the Asturian rider does not score points when competing as a guest, which left the young Aguilera as the official winner, getting his first victory this season and is placed as leader of the junior classification.

The next round of the GR Cup Spain will take place at the Portimão Circuit, on June 7 and 8.

Borja García and Alejandro Barambio dominate the first race of the Spanish GT Championship in Navarra

The Spanish GT Championship kicked off its second weekend of the 2025 season at the Circuito de Navarra with an exciting first race. Ten cars from the GT Cup, GPX and GPR categories came together, with the handicap stop strategy played a fundamental role.

From pole position, Borja García made an impeccable start, maintaining the lead and imposing a strong pace from the early stages. Behind him, Daniel Díaz-Varela was second, but he was soon pressured by Carlos Vieira. Vieira, showing great speed, overtook Jaume Font first and then Díaz-Varela to take second place, starting the pursuit of García.

The race was neutralized by the exit of the safety car after an off-track incident for the rookie Alpine A110 Cup driven at that time by José Luis López Valdivielso in the GPR category. The driver was fine, but the car was stuck in the gravel, requiring assistance and regrouping the field.

After the restart, Borja García distanced himself again, while the fight for third place intensified between Jaume Font and Daniel Díaz-Varela. An incident between the two teammates resulted in a spin for Diaz-Varela, who lost several positions.

The window for mandatory stops and compliance with the time handicap opened after the halfway point of the race. Jean-Roch Piat was the first to enter. The strategy was key: García and Vieira extended their stints. García handed the car over to Alejandro Barambio with a handicap of 80 seconds, while Vieira handed over the wheel to Miguel Lobo after 100 seconds, due to his previous results. Jaume Font entered the pits, but a technical problem prevented his teammate Joan Vinyes from taking part in the race, forcing his retirement.

Once all the stops were completed, Alejandro Barambio emerged as the comfortable leader, with an advantage of about 20 seconds over Miguel Lobo, a difference marked mainly by his team's lower handicap time. Óscar Ral, Díaz-Varela's teammate, placed third.

In the final phase, Barambio managed his advantage over Lobo without problems. The excitement was focused on the fight for the last step of the podium. Pedro Marreiros, Piat's teammate, hunted down Óscar Ral and, after an intense battle, managed to snatch third place from him on the last lap. Thus Goros, Sacha Hebrard's teammate, had previously suffered a spin while fighting with Marreiros.

Manuel Bertolín dominated the GPX category alone, finishing fifth overall. In GPR, the victory went to Nico Abella and Máximo Varela, who beat Carlos Álvarez and José Santos. Álvaro Rodríguez completed the GPR podium with López Valdivielso.

Borja García and Alejandro Barambio get the double in Navarra after a masterful comeback

The Circuito de Navarra vibrated with the second race of the weekend of the Spanish GT Championship, the second round of the 2025 season. Ten cars, divided into the GT Cup, GPX and GPR categories, faced each other for 48 minutes plus one lap in a race marked by handicap strategy and exciting on-track battles.

From the start, Alejandro Barambio initially took the lead, but Joan Vinyes snatched the lead from him in the first corners. Behind them, an intense fight for third position was formed between Miguel Lobo and Pedro Marreiros, both with Porsche 992 GT3 Cup of the Veloso Motorsport team. The six Porsches dominated the top positions, followed by the BMW M4 GT4 of Manuel Bertolín, leader in GPX, and the cars of the GPR category.

In GPR, there was an interesting duel between Álvaro Rodríguez, recent winner in Touring Cars, and Nico Abella. After several attempts and a nice defense by Rodríguez, Abella finally managed to overtake him to take the lead of the category before the stop window. Further back, José Santos suffered a spin from which he was able to recover without major consequences.

The mandatory time handicap stoppage window, applied between the 20th and 30th minute, was crucial. Barambio and Lobo were among the first leaders to enter, with handicaps of 100 and 115 seconds respectively. Vinyes, with 90 seconds, lasted longer on the track. After the stops and the change of drivers, Jaume Font initially maintained the lead ahead of Borja García, benefiting from a shorter handicap time. However, the race of the #77 Porsche of Lobo and Carlos Vieira was cut short by problems during the stop, preventing Vieira from going out on track.

Borja García showed spectacular pace after taking the wheel, setting the fastest lap and quickly wiping out the more than 11 seconds of disadvantage with Font. With about 15 minutes to go, García overtook Font to take the lead, a position he would not relinquish until the finish, imposing a considerable advantage.

While García escaped, the fight focused on second position, where Daniel Díaz-Varela, Óscar Ral's teammate, put intense pressure on Jaume Font in the last laps, although Font managed to defend the position. Jean-Roch Piat, Marreiros' teammate, suffered two spins that caused him to lose several positions.

Finally, Borja García crossed the finish line as the overall winner, sealing a double for himself and Alejandro Barambio in Navarra. Jaume Font and Joan Vinyes were second, with Daniel Díaz-Varela and Óscar Ral completing the overall podium and the GT Cup. Sacha Hebrard and Asi Goros finished fourth. Manuel Bertolín won alone in GPX, finishing fifth overall. In GPR, the victory went to Máximo Varela and Nico Abella, followed by José Luis López Valdivielso and Álvaro Rodríguez and Carlos Álvarez and José Santos.

The next race of the Spanish GT Championship will be at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, from June 6 to 8, in another exciting edition of the Racing Weekend.

Álvaro Rodríguez wins an intense Race 1 of the New CET in Navarra

Circuito de Navarra was the scene of the vibrant premiere of the 2025 Spanish Touring Car Championship (CET), inaugurating a new era with shorter races and separate GT grids. Eleven cars, representing various brands and divided into five categories (SS1, SS2, SS3, SS4 and SS5), faced each other in the first race of the weekend, agreed to 25 minutes plus one lap.

The start saw Diego Carrascal take the lead from pole, followed closely by Alvaro Rodriguez. Both drivers in the main category were involved in an intense fight for the lead during the first half of the race, with the BMW showing greater top speed on the straights and the Peugeot recovering ground in the more technical areas of the Navarre circuit. There were several overtaking attempts, keeping the tension in the lead.

Meanwhile, in the SS3 category, Germán López was third overall, starting another of the great battles of the day with José Palomar. Óscar Vergara, the only participant in SS2, was in fourth position overall after being initially overtaken by López.

The race turned upside down when, with just over 15 minutes to go, leader Diego Carrascal suffered mechanical problems in his BMW, being forced to slow down drastically and head to the pits, which left him out of the fight for victory. This incident left Alvaro Rodriguez with a clear path in the SS1 category and in the overall lead of the race, a position he would maintain until the checkered flag.

With Rodríguez escaping, the main focus was on the spectacular fight for victory on SS3 (and third overall) between Germán López and José Palomar. Both drivers, old acquaintances of the grids, offered an all-out duel throughout the second half of the race, exchanging positions and testing the limits of the track. Palomar constantly pressured Lopez, attempting to overtake on multiple occasions. Finally, in a thrilling final lap, José Palomar managed to overtake Germán López after a determined manoeuvre, claiming victory on SS3 by a narrow margin in a heart-stopping finish. Eduardo Lázaro completed the SS3 podium.

Óscar Vergara finished second overall and took the victory as the only contender in SS2. On SS4, Héctor Palacios dominated the category, finishing sixth overall, ahead of Carlos Cortés. Luis Chillida won in the SS5 category, followed by Antón Pérez-Sasia and Roberto Moreno.

Álvaro Rodríguez seals an impeccable double in the second race of the CET in Navarra

Circuito de Navarra hosted the second and exciting race of the opening weekend of the Spanish Touring Car Championship (CET) 2025, marking the beginning of a new era for the competition with its renewed format.

Starting from pole position, Álvaro Rodríguez, at the wheel of his Peugeot 308 Cup (SS1), executed a perfect start to maintain the lead. From the first bars, Rodríguez imposed a solid and consistent pace, progressively distancing himself from the rest of the competitors. As the only participant in the SS1 category after Diego Carrascal's absence due to breakdown, Rodríguez managed the race masterfully, demonstrating his speed and capping a perfect weekend with a double victory.

Óscar Vergara, with his Mini Cooper Pro, consolidated his position in second place overall from the start, dominating the TC2 category without direct opposition and maintaining a solid race without setbacks.

The SS3 class offered an interesting dynamic. José Palomar took the lead in the class and the third position overall, achieving a considerable advantage over José Luis Albors. Unlike the first race where the fight was closer with Albors' teammate, Germán López, this time Palomar rode comfortably. Albors, meanwhile, suffered a small braking pass in one of the corners, although he was able to control the car and continue without losing too much time, securing second place on SS3.

One of the main focuses of attention was the battle between Héctor Palacios, leader of SS4, and Eduardo Lázaro, framed in SS3. Palacios surprised at the start, climbing to third position overall momentarily. For much of the race, both drivers were spectacular overtakes and defences, demonstrating the interesting convergence of performance between the fastest SS4 and the less fast SS3. Although Lazaro eventually managed to cross the finish line ahead in the overall standings (securing third place on SS3), Palacios took a well-deserved victory in the SS4 class after a thrilling fight until the end. Carlos Cortés completed the SS4 qualifying.

In the SS5 category, Luis Chillida won with authority, leading the class from start to finish and finishing in a creditable seventh position overall. Miguel Bengoetxea, sharing a car with Antón Pérez Asia during the weekend, and Roberto Moreno completed the podium in the SS5 category.

When the chequered flag fell, Álvaro Rodríguez celebrated his second overall victory of the weekend. Óscar Vergara was second overall and winner in SS2, while José Palomar completed the overall podium and took the win in SS3.

The next round of the Spanish Touring Car Championship will be at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, on the weekend of June 15, where it will share the track with TCR Spain and the TCR World Tour.

René Lammers dominates in Navarra and leads the 2025 Spanish F4 Championship

Circuito de Navarra hosted an exciting second round of the 2025 Spanish F4 Championship, where René Lammers put in an impeccable performance by winning two of the three races, catapulting him to the top of the overall standings.

The Dutchman overtook his closest rivals, Thomas Strauven and Jan Przrowski (winner in R1), who remain key candidates at this early stage of the season.

The action was intense throughout the grid. Ean Eyckmans scored another podium, cementing his position as the best-performing rookie, with good results for Hudson Schwartz, Reno Francot and Juan Cota, who tried to stay close to the top 3. Meanwhile, South Korea's Kyuho Lee also celebrated his first championship point.

In the team standings, Griffin Core by Campos Racing (140) took the lead after a strong collective performance, beating out its main rivals, MP Motorsport (131). All this took place in front of more than 4,000 enthusiastic spectators who packed the Navarrese grandstands in the return of the category to this circuit.

David Pouget remains unbeaten in the Spanish Clio Cup

Circuito de Navarra has hosted this weekend, within the framework of the NAPA Racing Weekend, the third meeting corresponding to the Clio Cup Spain, which this year is witnessing an absolute dominance by one of the most outstanding competitors of the series, David Pouget.

Two months after having started the season in style, with a spectacular double at the same venue, the GPA Racing driver has once again been unbeatable, once again leading Saturday's qualifying sessions and the two races held throughout the day on Sunday.

David Pouget has thus sealed his third consecutive hat-trick so far this year, completing the first part of the Clio Cup Spain season undefeated, which he leads by a wide margin, with the last two meetings in October and November remaining.

Another of the names of the weekend has been Nicolas Milan Junior, who has confirmed himself as the revelation driver of the championship, by standing on the podium for the first time on two occasions. The young Frenchman has exchanged second and third places with Guillaume Maio, which has led to another double hat-trick by the French riders who are setting the tone in the Spanish Clio Cup.

Among the national competitors, the best placed in this third meeting was Sergio Casalins, fourth at the end of Race 1, and later also in Race 2.

Lydia Sempere, official driver of the Renault Group Spain Foundation, has left her mark at the Circuito de Navarra, opening Sunday's day with a superb fifth place. The same result that was signed next, at the end of the second round, by Luis Quintana, the Spanish debutant who is standing out the most since his arrival at the Clio Cup Spain.

The NAPA Racing Weekend will return to action on June 7 and 8 at the Portimão Circuit.
