F1 ACADEMY has commenced a major three day test programme at the Circuito de Navarra today (Tuesday). The test includes two days of running for the main season drivers, while rookies will get their first day of running in an F1 ACADEMY car on Thursday.
Tuesday and Wednesday's action will feature the stars of the current season getting plenty of laps in as they get ready for the next races for the series in Singapore on 4/5 October.
The majority of drivers in the series race with cars carrying the colours of F1 teams, and drivers taking part in the test across the next two days include Mercedes' championship leader Doriane Pin, Ferrari's Maya Weug, Red Bull Ford's Chloe Chambers, McLaren's Ella Lloyd and Red Bull Racing's Alisha Palmowski, who was the runner-up in MSV's GB4 Championship in the UK last year.
On Thursday, 18 new drivers will be driving, as they target a drive in the series next year. Drivers include Spain's Natalia Granada and GB4 racer Megan Bruce.
A total of 18 hours' track time is available across the three days, with all morning sessions starting at 9am local time, and afternoon testing today starting at 2pm until 5pm. Afternoon tests will run from 1pm and 4pm on days two and three.
Each car will have seven sets of Pirelli tyres to use across the three days. Five sets of tyres will be allocated for the in-season test, whilst the Rookie Test will use three sets, including one set carried over from the previous two days of testing.
