Williams F1 Team Principal James Vowles was on track at Circuito de Navarra last week, as he made the most of the break between F1 races.
Vowles was driving a McLaren 720s GT3 Evo with well-known British team Garage 59, and completed two days of testing around the revamped venue.
The test provided a re-union for Vowles with the team, having raced with them in the Asian Le Mans Series back in 2022.
“Spent a fantastic two days at the Circuito de Navarra in Spain. Mostly dry and a great technical circuit” Vowles said. “I was driving a McLaren 720s GT3 Evo with Garage 59. It was great to be back with a team that I have a strong history with.
“I was rusty to start, it’s been a few years out of a GT3 but very happy with where we ended up after two days of testing.
“I had to hang up most of my engineering brain and focus on driving - and loved every second.”
The Williams F1 team has enjoyed a big upturn in performance since Vowles was appointed as Team Principal in 2023. With Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz driving, the team has already scored 86 points in 2025, its best season for almost a decade.
